How to Get Court Records
Start with Search ARCourts. The portal can display public Nevada County case information, scheduled events, and some document images. Write down the court, the case number, the caption, the event title, and the date. Then decide what you actually want. A case-events printout, a plain copy of one filing, and a certified copy are three different products.
The Nevada County Circuit Clerk, in Suite 103, holds Circuit Court criminal, civil, domestic-relations, probate, and juvenile files. That office answers at 870-887-2511. The District Court Clerk, in Suite 104, handles State District Court traffic, misdemeanor, small-claims, and limited civil matters, at 870-887-6016. Both offices sit at 215 E. 2nd St. South, Prescott, AR 71857. Fax a request to 870-887-1911 for Circuit or 870-887-3244 for District. Call first to confirm fax is accepted.
- Locate the Nevada County case and event online, or ask the proper clerk to identify it.
- Specify the exact filed paper, docket list, judgment, or order needed.
- Choose inspection, pickup, mail, or another delivery method approved by the clerk.
- Ask whether the item is public and onsite, then obtain an exact cost and payment instructions.
- Submit the request only after confirming identification, timing, and delivery requirements.
Mail your request to the responsible clerk at the courthouse, suite number included. The clerk's office posts no local request email, drop box, or online copy form. Access to court-case records runs through Administrative Order No. 19. That order is the correct framework. Treat the request as a court-records matter. It is not an ordinary Arkansas Freedom of Information Act request.
Nevada County Court Record Products
Think of the docket, or Case Events list, as the index. It shows when filings, settings, and orders hit the case. A filed document is the thing itself: the complaint, motion, notice, order, or judgment. A certified copy carries the clerk's certificate or seal. A portal printout is handy for reference. But printing something from Search ARCourts does not make it certified. That takes the clerk.
| Product | What It Provides | Best Source |
|---|---|---|
| Docket or Case Events | Dated index of procedural activity. | Search ARCourts or the responsible clerk. |
| Filed document | Actual text of a pleading, notice, order, or judgment. | Public portal image when offered, otherwise the clerk. |
| Certified copy | Clerk-authenticated copy for an official use. | Circuit or District Court Clerk that keeps the file. |
Pick the product before you contact the clerk. A narrow request gets an accurate quote and keeps you from paying for a full file when one signed order is all you need.
Types of Court Records
The Circuit Clerk maintains Nevada County Circuit Court files across the court's subject-matter divisions. The District Court Clerk keeps the lower court docket. The County Clerk, in Suite 102, handles county-government records and County Court administrative matters. Despite the similar title, that office is not the place for ordinary Circuit cases. Go there for county records only.
- Circuit criminal files, including public charges, motions, orders, dispositions, and sentencing events.
- Circuit civil suits, domestic-relations cases, probate matters, and public appellate or transfer entries.
- State District Court traffic citations, misdemeanors, small claims, and limited civil matters.
- Public judgments, orders, docket sheets, pleadings, notices, and available case-event images.
- Restricted juvenile, sealed, or protected family records only when access is authorized.
Court reporter transcripts work differently. You normally order them from the reporter, and Search ARCourts cannot recreate them. Ask the court for the reporter's contact and the transcript procedure.
Nevada County Court Copy Details
Nevada County posts no official copy-request form. A clear written request should give the clerk enough detail to identify the file and quote it. Skip sensitive personal identifiers unless the office asks for them through a secure method.
| Requester | Name and contact details for the quote and delivery. |
|---|---|
| Court | Circuit or State District Court. |
| Case identifier | Case number, or caption and party names if the number is unknown. |
| Requested item | Document or event title and its filing date, such as a judgment or order. |
| Copy type | Plain or certified; ask separately about exemplification. |
| Delivery and payment | Inspection, pickup, or mail, with methods confirmed by the clerk. |
Ask first, pay second. Before mailing money, confirm the file is onsite, the exact total, the payee name, the accepted payment, and the expected delivery. Nevada County publishes no turnaround promise or complete payment list.
What a Nevada County Court Record Contains
A case file mixes identity, procedure, and the papers the parties or the court filed. Search ARCourts labels the first part Case Information. It labels the dated register Case Events. The clerk's file can hold the documents behind those entries. Redaction, sealing, and retention rules still apply.
| Case Number and Caption | The court identifier and short title or description of the parties or matter. |
|---|---|
| Pleadings | Complaints, petitions, answers, motions, responses, and related filings. |
| Orders and Judgments | Signed rulings, directions, disposition papers, and appeal-related entries. |
| Docket or Case Events | Chronological index of filings, settings, notices, and decisions. |
| Participants and Counsel | Public party roles and attorneys, with protected identifiers withheld. |
| Exhibits and Transcripts | Availability can vary; transcript requests ordinarily go to the court reporter. |
A docket entry without an image still counts as part of the record. It means the document is not linked in that public view, not that the filing is fake or confidential. Ask the clerk whether a public copy can be inspected or ordered.
Nevada County Older Court Records
Nevada County formed in 1871. The current courthouse dates only to 1964. Some court material predates the building or the state's current electronic systems, and Search ARCourts publishes no Nevada County record-start date. An older or unconverted file may be missing online yet still open to inspection at the courthouse.
No online result is not a final answer. Call the proper Nevada County clerk and ask whether the file is paper, archived, offsite, or indexed under another case number.
The county posts no local archive list, microfilm inventory, retention schedule, or retrieval estimate. When asking about an old file, give the approximate year, the court, the parties, and the type of record.
Certified Copies and Fees
A plain copy just reproduces the record. A certified copy adds the clerk's authentication. Arkansas Code section 21-6-402 sets a five-dollar charge for the certificate and seal. That figure may not cover the whole order. Page charges, search work, mailing, or another authorized component can apply. Nevada County has posted no complete local schedule, so ask for a case-specific quote.
| Item | Verified Amount or Status | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Search ARCourts | Free | Public search and available public information. |
| Certificate and seal | $5 | Ark. Code Ann. ยง21-6-402(b)(3); confirm use with clerk. |
| Circuit Clerk transcript, first 1,000 pages | $2.50 per page | Statutory clerk-prepared transcript rate, not a reporter transcript. |
| Pages 1,001 through 2,000 | $2 per page | Same statute. |
| Pages above 2,000 | $1.50 per page | Same statute. |
| Plain copy, certified total, exemplification | Not locally published | Ask for a written quote before sending payment. |

Nevada County Court Transcript Records
A filed transcript and a new transcript order are not the same thing. If a transcript is already in the public file, the clerk can explain copy access. If none exists, the court reporter is the likely source for preparing one. Ask the clerk or the assigned court for the reporter's contact, cost, deposit, and timing rules.
The statutory Circuit Clerk page rates apply to clerk-prepared transcripts described by the statute. They do not set the price of a court reporter's verbatim hearing or trial transcript. Search ARCourts cannot produce one from its event list.
Public Access and Sealed Records
Not every paper in a Nevada County court file ends up online. Two rules set the boundaries. Arkansas Supreme Court Administrative Order No. 19 covers court records. It also covers what gets excluded, how requests work, and compiled information. Confidential details in filings are different. They fall under Rule 5(c)(2) of the Arkansas Rules of Civil Procedure. Juvenile records and sealed criminal records carry their own statutory protections on top of that.
Key rules: Administrative Order No. 19 sets the court-record access framework. Arkansas Code section 9-27-309 protects juvenile records, and sections 16-90-1401 and following govern eligible criminal sealing. The Arkansas Code gateway carries the current statutory text.
Knowing a case number does not unlock a sealed or confidential Nevada County record. The clerk will ask what court order, identification, or proof of role authorizes the release. So raise that question early. Also keep perspective on the docket search. A record missing from Search ARCourts may simply not be on the web. Public paper files still exist at the courthouse.
Nevada County Court Record Certification
Portal images are handy, yet convenience is not the same as proof. A clerk certificate ties a copy to the official Nevada County court file. An agency, another court, or a legal process may want a certified judgment or order. Tell the clerk the exact document and the copy type required. Keep that certificate with the document afterward.
One caution on cost. Exemplification or any form beyond ordinary certification may not be offered. It may also fall outside the five-dollar seal charge. So ask the Nevada County Circuit Clerk or District Court Clerk for availability and a full quote. The Nevada County case search gathers the identifiers you need before you call.
